We understand that planning any event, including funerals or services for loved ones, is made even more difficult by the Coronavirus pandemic and the everchanging restrictions.
At Anton Brown Funerals, we stay up-to-date with all current funeral restrictions in Queensland, so you don’t have to. Plus, our funeral home is highly adaptable and very familiar with handling last minute changes.
At the end of the day, it is our aim to ensure that arrangements are stress-free for the families we help.
Read on as we share some advice for planning a service during these unprecedented and unpredictable times and how we adhere to current restrictions during funerals, viewings and home visits.
Advice for Planning a Funeral During the COVID-19 Pandemic
During the Covid-19 pandemic, we strongly encourage families to take up the option for livestreaming. Livestreaming allows those who cannot travel due to lockdowns or border closures to take part in the service, pay their respects and say goodbye. Cemeteries and crematoriums include this service already, but typically church services do not.
In terms of our funeral home’s day-to-day services, Anton Brown Funerals still tries to operate as “normal”; however, we advise people to have a Plan B if restrictions change suddenly.
Current Funeral Restrictions QLD
At the time of publishing this article, the restrictions in the state’s south-east were as follows:
“Funerals are limited to 10 people, including those who are officiating the service.”
For the rest of the state, funerals restrictions are:
“The 1 person per 2 square metres rule or 200 people or 100% allocated seated and ticketed capacity will apply — whichever is the greater.”
As these restrictions continue to change throughout the pandemic and can be unpredictable, we stay across them and ensure all arrangements we make adhere to the current regulations.
More information about restrictions in South East Queensland can be found on the Queensland Government website here.
How we adhere to COVID-19 Funeral Requirements
At Anton Brown Funerals, your safety and the safety of our staff is our priority.

- We encourage all attendees to adhere to the government regulations at the time, including social distancing and practising good hygiene.
- We provide hand sanitiser and masks.
Viewings at our Brisbane Funeral Home during COVID-19
We are still able to have viewings at our funeral home at Woolloongabba.
- Only 6 people are allowed in the room at one time
- People must sign in with the QLD QR Code provided
House Visits During COVID-19
We understand that some people still want to discuss funeral arrangements for a loved one in the comfort and privacy of their own home, so we can still do so, provided we adhere to current regulations.
For your safety, our team wear masks during these visits. We’ve also all received flu shots and are in the process of receiving Covid vaccinations.
