Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the ever-changing restrictions, livestream funeral services have become commonplace.
In this blog we answer some questions we’re asked frequently about the process for having a livestream available at a funeral, and how friends and relatives can watch it if they aren’t able to attend in person.
How Do Virtual Funerals work?
The process for organising virtual funerals is very straightforward.
Step 1: A camera is positioned within an appropriate spot within the venue so it can best capture the service.
Step 2: We start recording once people enter the venue.
Step 3: People who cannot attend the service in person are able to view the proceedings on the internet via a dedicated link.
How is the Livestream Link Distributed?
This link for the livestream is given to the funeral directors a few days before the service.
We provide this to family members to share with any friends and relatives who may wish to be part of the service this way.
Alternatively, if the family of the deceased gives us permission, the Anton Brown Funerals team can forward the service link onto other family and friends.
How much does it cost to Livestream a Funeral Service?
The price for livestreaming a funeral service can range from $500 to $700, but if the service is at a cemetery/crematorium chapel, this is typically included in the chapel hire.
You may have to pay a small fee if you want the recording of the service on a USB to keep.
